The goal of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is to achieve political, educational, social, and economic equality for citizens of minority groups in the United States. The organization fights discrimination through the courts, public education, and pressure on Congress. The NAACP also offers services to its members, such as tutorials, job referrals, and day care. In addition, the organization sponsors the development of housing for people with low and moderate incomes. The NAACP publishes the periodical Crisis.
